Should I donate to an evangelical organiztion in hopes of supporting LGBT youth? As the daughter of minister, I learned first-hand the challenges of bringing up your parents to be gay-friendly. On YouTube recently, I saw an ad for Grace Prayer Community, what looks like a web site for Christian charismatics (also known as "charismaniacs"). It's the kind of site my parents would totally love. So I posted a prayer request to their web site. Here's the question... Should I also give a $9 donation so they send my request out to thousands of their members by e-mail? After all, some of their kids are probably queer needing support. I'd love your feedback. I wrote... "Jesus said, "love thy neighbour." That includes people of all cultures, ages, colurs, genders, and sexual orientations. I pray to save lives of gay and LGBT youth who have been rejected and bullied by their schoolmates, families, and/or religions. So many are considering suicide. So many already have taken their lives, like my cousin Ted. I pray they and their families and friends all find helpful resources such as "You make it Better with Just a Click" or OUTstanding Lives Network, or Befrienders.org ( www.befrienders.org) and learn to love themselves, as they are. Thanks! YOU make a difference." Should I do a $9 donation for the inclusion in the e-mail for Grace Prayer Community? Also, do you think we should create a team of speakers to give talks in churches, synagogues, mosques, etc (as well as the presentations in high schools and workplaces)? I'd love your feedback. Thanks! Would you like to grow your gay-friendly charity, business, business, creative project, or activist movement?
