​Why your speaking clients WANT to pay you more
​

Yesterday, I almost exploded at my cell phone company.  I wanted to yell, “charge me more please!”  I’m willing to bet MOST of your speaking clients and prospects feel the same way I do about quality.  They WANT to pay you very well for your presentations.  Yes, they are very, very happy to pay for quality.  In fact, some of them will ONLY work with you, if you to charge them more. 

For example, most corporate executives and meeting managers are highly suspicious of a speaker who charges less than $10,000 / HOUR (that’s the going rate for a good speaker who is NOT famous.  If the going rate is news to you, you can Google “keynote speakers fees” and see for yourself).  If you charge less than the going rate, you will damage your credibility, and chances are, corporate clients will fear you might damage their reputation. 

The higher your fee, the more they trust you to build their reputation (for more free secrets and/or a free consultation on how to get high-paying speaking engagements, you can sign up to the right. These free secrets can be worth over $200,000 to you and can save you at least two to three years). 
Here’s my cell phone “lemons-to-lemonaide” story for today, to make my point...
 A few months ago, I bought a new cell phone.  For some reason, nobody explained that the voicemail only has space for three messages and blocks any additional incoming messages.  It also deletes voice messages if you don’t pick them up right away.  This week, two key contacts complained to me that they had tried to leave me messages, but I never returned their call.  What!?  I was shocked and confused.  I’d never heard of voice mail that blocks and deletes voice mails automatically.  

I called the phone company, and found out what happened.  Turns out that they have a better voicemail plan at a higher price, but nobody bothered to tell me about it.  As a result, I may have lost thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and there is no way to recover the voicemails or the money I lost.  The damage that this low-quality voicemail option did to my reputation was impossible to measure.  That’s why I really wanted to yell, “charge me more, PLEASE!”  I would have been thrilled to pay ten times more for a quality voice mail. 

After all, I help elite speakers to become top motivational speakers who profit from presenting.  I charge a lot because I help my clients EARN a lot.  A single missed voicemail means HUGE missed opportunities for me and for them.  Professional speaking is not only a great way to earn money, it’s also a great opportunity to inspire and empower people, and create a better world. 

​Today, I decided to write an article about my experience, to turn those lemons into lemon-aide.  The moral of the story?  I want top quality, and I’m HAPPY to pay for it.  So are most of your ideal clients and prospects.
